ECA’s online training course – Principles of Global Mobility

ECA International

The world of global mobility (GM) continues to expand and challenge us and, here at ECA, building knowledge and sharing our expertise has always been very important to us.

Last year when the pandemic hit and our clients were unable to benefit from our in-house workshops, we quickly adapted and launched a new online training course: Principles of Global Mobility. This course enables participants to learn about the wonderful world of global mobility at their own pace, wherever they are in the world.

What is it?

This comprehensive online course provides GM practitioners with all the knowledge they need to successfully manage assignments from start to finish. It is split into six bite-sized modules, which are:

easy to follow and intuitive. The chapters are just the right length and the language used is very accessible, regardless of whether English is your first language.

- Global Mobility Consultant, Deutsche Post DHL

The course mixes theory with practical exercises and covers all of the most important areas from the ‘whys’ and the ‘hows’ of sending employees abroad and for how long, to covering subjects like tax, social security and immigration compliance, as well as the calculation and provision of assignment salaries and benefits, all the way to the end of the assignment. Whether it is business trips, short-term or long-term assignments, for whatever reason and wherever in the world, we have it covered!

Who is it for?

Put simply, the course is for all global mobility professionals. It is:

perfect as part of the introduction material for an employee who is new to managing international assignees.

- Global Mobility Coordinator, Scania CV AB

Not new but been away from GM for a period of time? It also serves as a perfect refresher course. This course really does fit all levels of GM experience, as well as anyone in a role ‘linked’ to GM, such as HR generalists, payroll, or compensation & benefits.

Even here at ECA, this course is now part of the onboarding process for most new employees joining the company – that is how much we believe in the quality and benefits of our own product!

Why is it beneficial?

Simply because it will give you an all-you-need-to-know overview of the fundamental GM concepts, and the knowledge required to overcome some of the challenges that global mobility can – and will – throw at you.

Using the new knowledge, participants have said they:

will use it to review the GM policy for their organisation and for presenting to stakeholders.

- Head Compensation & Benefits, WWF International

The course is designed to not only be professional, but also fun! By the time you have completed all of the modules, you will have learnt all about the business drivers in sending employees abroad, the changing patterns of mobility and the basic compliance challenges from both employer and employee perspectives.

Furthermore, you will become familiar with market practice for allowances and the benefits offered to employees on different types of international work and the importance of managing exceptions, while also developing awareness of total assignment cost to the company.

Whatever the capacity of your involvement in global mobility, this course will increase your subject matter knowledge – so the question is, why wouldn’t you want to benefit from that?

When and where do I complete this course?

Whenever you want. This course has a modular design which means you can stop and start at your own convenience. Once access is granted, you can complete the course in your own time and at your own workspace. On top of your newfound knowledge, you will also be awarded a formal certificate upon completion.

How do I get access?

To purchase the course for yourself or your colleagues, or to find out more, please visit the training section of our website

The content is clear and the mixture of theory and interactive exercises allows for immersive and engaging learning. This is essential training for our employees and the course fee is very reasonable.
