Managing expatriate remuneration

 

 

Managing expatriate remuneration is designed to help participants improve their understanding of the issues behind the choice and design of assignment pay systems and provide guidelines on how to improve their communication with the assignees.

Participants will have the opportunity to build an assignee’s pay package in a number of different ways and learn how to manage issues from salary reviews through to delivery of pay.

Participants will gain more from the course if they have an initial understanding of calculating and reviewing assignee packages.

Agenda:

Developing an assignee's pay package
  • How to calculate pay packages using different remuneration approaches and evaluating the different outcomes:
    • build-up or home-based system
    • host-based system
    • hybrid system
Revising salaries
  • How to conduct annual and interim reviews
  • Understanding the impact of currency movements and inflation on expatriate pay
  • Managing salaries during a currency crisis
Delivering pay
  • Examine the options for delivery of pay:
    • home, host or split pay
    • communicating pay to assignees
    • understanding the impact of exchange rates on delivery of pay
Creating workable packages for low-salary base countries
  • How to create an equitable package
  • How to minimise repatriation problems
Creating packages for short-term assignments
  • Creating essentials allowances
  • Examining policy options
