Temporary survey analysts (London)

Temporary survey analysts are employed to help with ECA International's worldwide survey of living costs. The survey, conducted in September, measures cost of living differentials and monitors price changes in about 200 locations.

Information is collected through questionnaires completed by expatriates and local nationals. Prices are provided for 125 items of everyday expenditure including food and drink, personal goods and services, clothing, motoring and electrical goods. Costs for other areas of interest to expatriates are also collected. These include schools, sports/social clubs, domestic help, housing and motoring.

Around 3000 questionnaires are received during the September survey and temporary survey analysts are employed to help process the information. The work involves:

  • logging the questionnaires as they arrive
  • coding the questionnaires so that they are in the correct format for entry into the computer
  • entering the information into the cost of living computer system
  • analysing the data to produce results that reflect the prevailing conditions in each location, while ensuring the latest figures are consistent with previously published information.
